I actually really would have liked to have seen the scenes with "Joe" being "a visitor"....
I just feel that it would have been altogether wonderfully written, performed and filmed. 💜

An actor just standing still and looking like a little boy waiting for candy. What an achievement! That's real DOWNDUMBING.

All death is gentle it's letting go of life is what hurts
@@glenfields2472
I carry the passion found in this movie. I love to entice women to feel the deep emotion of forbidden irrational love. They are always willing to walk that path. But I am so far into the illusion that I cannot find a partner to satisfy me in the responses to my display. The ballads that play in these films fills my head and my eyes glimmer with promises of rapture. I have gone too far in seeking satisfaction of my fantasy. I am the ultimate lover, but remain mortal, so it is pointless. I remain alone.

Holy shit, she saw through his bullshit. His form, his body, his spirit. Through and through. She read him like a book. This is a fantastic film. Might be a new addition to my top ten. I gotta get this on dvd, maybe even Blu-ray. Hell, if it's got a steel book case, I might very well get it.
@@macunsolicitied
When this movie came out it flopped and Pitt was laughed at for this scene. The movie definitely has some huge plot holes but the performances were great, the leads had chemistry and the hospital scene was unforgettable

I feel like he replaced the pain with a happy memory. It didn't seem like healing so much as a trade off. He can't prevent her death, but he can make it easier to bear.
I love this scene so much.

Great- Great Movie
@@1ManNamedDan
I have witnessed more than my share of deaths, people and animals drawing their last in front of me or in my arms. There's always a last big sigh, a rattle, and a moment where you can see the individual cells under the skin's surface fight for life as they are all suddenly starved of oxygen and must struggle to be still. I have yet to see a proper and/or realistic representation of that last miracle event that turns one from a conscious being into an object that can no longer be what it was.

She went from frightened old lady, to an old friend, and finally a grandmotherly mentor to teach Joe about life. That happiness she felt at the end was her reward.
