Wouldnt it be ironic if the sapsang missile production site location was given to Russia by the US.

The "swap" as I understood it was the land around Sumy and Kharkov that Russian is currently occupying.

I understand and appreciate Alastair Crooke’s view that Trump has reached some enlightenment about Russia and has a need to throw a bone at MAGA do to the Epstein explosion. But the question is: dose Trump have the shrewd skills needed to maneuver around the neocons and their Russia hating supporters in swamp Washington.

Russia/ U.S. summit meeting achieves two things for the U.S.
1. Distraction from horrors in Gaza.
2. Scares EU leaders into agreeing to legislate their U.S. treasury reserves into U.S. national wealth fund via stable coin tokenisation.

'Land swap' implies a deal between equals. 'Annexation' or 'concession' implies that one party is at a disadvantage; has somehow lost. The U.S. cannot be seen to lose ... particularly not to a bunch of godless Commies! (U.S. policy since the Unipolar Moment has been largely determined by people who think at this level.)
The unfortunate fact is that the U.S.A. and its NATO toadies have been soundly trounced by Russia in this proxy conflict. (Incidentally, the conflict was only 'proxy' because Russia chose to regard it as such. This patent fiction was maintained to minimise the risk of out-of-control escalation.) The putative swap is simply a desperate attempt to put a positive spin on a catastrophic policy failure. Oddly, this task may be made easier by having the burgeoning (mostly) Western economic crisis absorb the lion's share of public attention.
Russia, China and the rest of BRICS are just waiting for the West to crumble from the impact of its own mismanagement -- preferably, without prompting a nuclear exchange.

@@Bazza_Mc_Kenzie

Alastair does not really understand the MAGA base. The Ukraine war for them is not the big issue he suggests. They don't want the US involved in the war or supporting it with money and weapons but, subject to that requirement, whether the war continues is not a big issue to them. They are far more upset about US assistance for Israel's genocide in Gaza, about Israeli control of the US and its government, and about the US starting a war with Iran on behalf of Israel, and about Epstein's pedophile blackmail factory on behalf of Israel to suborn members of the US government. Anyone who thinks some attempted peace agreement (to which Zelensky can never agree and survive) is going to materially divert MAGA's attention from the things that really matter to them is delusional.

@@bigjoe4020

The US can't be trusted (history has established that for certain) under any administration but especially under Genocide DON who changes his mind more often then his underwear (don't have any intel on how often he does that).
SO the only outcome from the Alaska meet I can see is that Trump got the Russian narrative first hand so to speak and the Russian will decide the Ukraine issue on the battlefield. He can choose to speed up this process by leaving Ukraine but even if not it will happen sooner or later and then their will be no negotiation only unconditional surrender.

Do i answer when i hear someone calling someone else's name? Do i say changed names chosen long ago by misleading folks whose hidden agenda denies real name of our YAHUAH or YAHUSHA? 15:00 since he brought it up, we the people simply want to know who is factually GUILTY of raping children. We want to know who has committed these crimes, no matter who they are. Then we want justice. It's that simple. All the president puppets like George W. Bush have stated that the U.S. is a nation of laws. Many others have stated no one is above the law. Yeah? PROVE IT! If the ENTIRE ST. DEPT. is guilty, empty the prisons of all the cannabis smokers and throw the St. Dept criminals in there and melt down the key!

The US and its poodle the UK thought they could bully and bleed Russia white through Ukraine, if not actually destroy it. Idiots don't understand Russians, their grit and determination. Who's suffering from a war of attrition now? It would have been far better for everyone if they had kept their promises not to expand and threaten Russia after the USSR kept its part of the deal and released East Germany. Ungrateful bastards.

Naivety, just because there is a diplomatic understanding, doesn't mean there is an acceptance of it. How is it that the EU and other Nato members can't toe the line with Trump. Aren't we looking at a frozen conflict and not a real peace agreement.

Melania Trump reportedly wrote a letter to President Putin about Ukrainian children — yet no word about the children in Gaza, in Palestine. If she truly cared, her letter should have been addressed to Prime Minister Netanyahu.

@@ggdaddy6676

I rarely find anything to quarrel over when Alastair Crooke talks -- but not sure I buy his "I've got to throw MAGA a bone" argument. Trump is a weak man who will act according to the instructions of the last Neocon he talked to.

This peace process will go nowhere unless it has the support of the permanent state. If he gets a genuine peace deal, that will surely be a sign that the permanent state has thrown in the towel on dismantling Russia as a prelude to war with China -- and possibly on war with China as well.

The trillion dollar defense budget says there will be no exiting Ukraine, no matter how badly Trump might want to give his base something to cheer about.
