Saying alcohol is necessary for social success is like saying phones don't exist. Alcohol very much destroys social life as well. I watched two of my uncles go from stardom to unwanted messes over time with one dead and the other on the brink.

Everything what around us is making by our Lord, and alcohol too

@@alejandrosilvadiaz5711

I love Kurzgesagt, and I genuinely hope anyone who is struggling through alcohol sees this and actually finds it helpful. I couldn't help, though, to feel like the tone of this one sounds more shaming or scaring than helpful.

People who are struggling with alcohol already feel guilty about it. On the other hand, people who drink and haven't realized the level of harm could use the educational side of this video., but I don't think they'll feel inspired by someone pointing their finger at them and telling them "drinking is bad for you".

Just some constructive criticism. I still love their work.

@@tommo1330

It may not seem like long but im currently 3 weeks off alcohol which is the longest ive gone without it since i was 16 and am now 35. Wasnt a daily drinker but atleast once a week mostly saturday binge drink atleast 10, which impairs my judgement, bad for health, demotivates me to work and made me gamble. Im trying really hard, i know if i say oh whats one going to do.. but for many of us just quitting is the only way to stop and control the excessive drinking. I did the same with weed i used to smoke everyday for years the only thing that works is to give it up and face the boredom and withdrawals but time heals and makes you stronger, everyday it seems to get easier and when tempted focus on all the bad that comes with it because that far outweighs the good. Alcohol killed my mum and i feel her presence helping me quit.

I don’t drink but sometimes I feel like that makes me less approachable or socially awkward at parties. I don’t really understand how drinking makes it easier to connect with others so I guess I’m asking is it worth it to fit in?

Booze would no longer be a main stream. But the real risk is how much you can in crease trust to the social for working together.
We may need a logic to verify the truth to be trusted more than ever.

@@_igor_028_4

Tbh loneliness is way unhealthier for humans than drinking or smoking from time to time, the amount create poison, so go get that drink or cig, but be reasonable.

@@ebfisher

I love Kurzgesagt videos because typically cover their topic well, both in-depth and the breadth of the issue. But this video fails to discuss the fact that for millennia, alcohol was regularly consumed by necessity; in many parts of the world it was much safer to drink than water, which could be contaminated and also spoil during transport. That surely had an impact on why it is culturally acceptable to drink alcohol.

@@therazmatazz732

Gen-Z is overly obsessed with their health for a group of young people, it gets to the point of mental illness. There's more things to worry about in life than beer and stuff. You need to stop being obsessed with things that don't matter and putting your time into the things that do. It's good advice. Chill.

Watching this while sipping a glass of brandy

@@BVtok26

I saw something like this as a kid and decided to not drink. Eventually I knew myself well enough and decided to try my first beer when I was 31 and enjoyed it. I still enjoy alcohol but it's not something I've made a habit of. It's mainly during celebrations and holidays probably a beer a month on average but with months in between. Seeing this is questioning if I should do even that but I think in moderation it's not too bad.

I'm surprised you didn't get into alcohol in the animal kingdom and how being able to process it was probably a benefit when we could consume fermented fruit, a way to make water safe to drink, and basically liquid bread to sustain us. Would love more of a history of humans and alcohol I guess.

@@bluest1524

Commercial tobacco cigarettes are worse, in my opinion. But yeah. All true here.

@@Dr4g0n89

I started drinking heavy alcohol when i was 16, at 18 i switched to beer but drank every weekend/party at least 10 beer just to get drunk and 14/16 was my limit. We had lot's of lan parties and drinking games and so on, when i was 23 i stopped consuming alcohol and in just 1 month my friends didn't give a fug about me anymore lol. It was like suddenly i was an outsider. This was my time in europe. When i went to the phillipines, the first thing other men ask you is to join them for a drink. So many people drink gin and they don't believe you. It's like you are a paradox if you don't consume alcohol in some places of the earth.

it surprises me so much it’s legal and easily accessed while marijuana is still schedule 1 and cause for loss or denial of employment for many jobs. It’s crazy. I know using nothing is healthier than using either but the risks for marijuana seems so non-existent to minuscule that there needs to be a change.

I can't handle the taste of a drink that has alcohol don't know why but I hate it so much that I can tell if a drink has alcohol or not by smelling it.

@@Spencer-y9k1j

I think another big reason some countries drink more in the EU is because that was, in the early ages of history, the only drink that you could use, in moderation, that wouldn’t kill you. More importantly they didn’t really have good ways of purifying water.

Cured my social anxiety. Got me the be the person I wanted. Party animal, friendly chatty guy, getting attention from women.
