I have relaxed so many times to this video. Losing myself in its world and music. I have written stories about living in the small studio apartment above the bar. My window is in the upper left, third door down the hall from the top of the stairs, right next to the neon sign. The neon sign is old enough that it makes a slight crackling noise when it flashes on and off. The steam coming from the bakery roof vents next door usually starts around 12am when the doughnuts are getting ready to be made for the next day. There's this girl who lives across the sidewalk from me. I first noticed her a week after I moved in. She sits in a ratty tumbledown chair pushed right up to the window ledge. At first I thought she was setting herself up to see and be seen, but after a few days I learned that one sliver of window space is where the afternoon sun strikes her window and dapples her with uneven rays of sunlight shining through the crazed window glass. One afternoon I planted myself at my window to see if I could get a reaction from her. She never looked up, not even once. Her cat stares at me though. It has resting bitch face, so I call her cat RBF for short. I've seen a few text books stacked by the window, so maybe she goes to Uni, but based on the coffee stains and general distain she seems to have for the books (she let them get wet one night holding the window open in the rain) she either is uninterested or has graduated and the text books are one step closer to the recycler.
I have yet to see her at K's place downstairs.
K is short for Koichi, but he says a lot of travelers have trouble with his name or suddenly remember they took high school Mandarin and attempt to talk to him. Problem is, K is Japanese and only speaks Japanese and English. He makes the best Tempura. Served with a hot bowl of Udon, it chases the chill away on the cool winter night, especially when it rains, which lately, its been doing a lot. K is too old now to fix all the leaks, so I pay my room and board by fixing the roof, the plumbing and change out the propane tanks when Beratnas Gas makes a drop off. Every 3rd Monday night A rep from the local Sake distributor comes by with a bunch of new merch to taste test. We all sit around at the bar drinking and telling stories. K wants me to test everything so he can get my opinion since I am a fellow traveler and he thinks what I like other travelers will like too. It all tastes good to me. Hot or cold. After the third round of tasting, they switch to Japanese and I have no idea what they are saying. That's fine, its all such a sweet vibe. I wish I could stop time and exist only in these moments. The rain outside keeps time to the music; some lofi jazz, or guitar or something coming from the garden speakers disguised as rocks which are placed around the couches in the corner. It just adds to everything that is all ready almost perfect.
This is K's place. It is a place in time that will live with me forever.
I found a guest book when I was drunk after sake tasting and I was foraging for food. Since K's is closed on Mondays, there's nothing to eat except the snacks that are stuffed all around the inside bar. That's how I found the guest book. When you walk in the door, look to your left, its on a shelf right over the Pocky sticks next to the industrial strength coffee that only K drinks. He started keeping the guest book in the 1980's when he inherited the place from his father. K was 24. One night, I dedicated myself to studying this relic and I found that I am around the fortieth border that has lived in that room at the top of K's place. K has stories with layer upon layer, which seem to change with each telling, and lots of people from the immediate area all tend to be drawn to K's place to hear them. The furniture is so perfectly worn that every time you sit on the couch or the chair, its like a welcome embrace. The flickering from the lanterns, add this air of surrealness to every conversation. I have never been so relaxed and yet so focused on my surroundings, the vibe, and my absolute good fortune to stop at K's place one hot August afternoon and bitch that "If I lived here I'd be home now." K's place is a rest stop for travelers, A train station for those waiting for the next step in their life, a place to hide, a place to eat, get drunk, A place to laugh and listen to K's tales getting longer and better and Oh my god the girl from the window across the way has just walked in and she just looked my way...

To anyone reading this right now, you matter. Whatever is hurting you will not define you forever. May your worries slowly fade, may your heart feel lighter, and may peace find you in this moment.

Kinda reminds me of Cusco, Peru. Except without the Japanese characters and cyberpunkish aesthetic lol

I'd like to this this sake bar would be cozy vibe, but realistically it would probably just be cold

This picture looks incredibly similar to the Jiufen Old Street in Taiwan. If you like this vibe, it's definitely worth Googling—the real place is just as magical.

That's not Kyoto though! That looks more like Los Angeles City Hall in the skyline. Downtown L.A. is anything but calm, elegant, quiet, safe, relaxing, clean or stress free.😂

Even if you can’t see it yet, the fact that you’re still here, still trying in your own quiet way, already means something beautiful.

Dear Creator: You don't make anything that I want to listen to. It's boring, predictable, and basically asking you to have AI do any and all necessary lifting for you to make your precious money. You are morally corrupt, and I will ensure myself and any followers steer clear of your absolutely awful posts. I hope you never post again.
Hate me? Good. YOU earned every bit of it.
