It’s interesting as I see a lot of Tom’s responses as over sensitive and lacking in comprehension of humour. He then attacks the interviewer as a diversion. I wouldn’t necessarily see this as masterful, more a diversionary tactic. He does handle himself well with tone and delivery.

Some of these were just normal interactions, not sure why you included them and said they were awkward when they weren't awkward at all. Maybe it's awkward in the states but you can hear that when the interviewer was british or australian, the questions weren't awkward, it's only awkward to americans
