Paolo Maldini wasn’t just a defender — he was elegance personified, a master of the art of defending. With flawless positioning and calm authority, he protected his goal like a silent guardian. From leading AC Milan to European glory to inspiring Italy on the world stage, Maldini embodied loyalty, grace, and timeless class. He didn’t just stop attackers — he made defending look beautiful, and left a legacy that will echo for generations. Want to grow on YouTube? Unbelievable tribute to the greatest defender in my lifetime. Thank you

@@mariobarilli

Third best defender I have seen, right behind Beckenbauer & Passarella. A true monster

@@takayukiishiguro

One of the icons of an era when football represented a certain kind of elegance.

@@miguelzohara

The best of number 3 shirt and icon. No doubt ❤

@@__Dp__

Never been a football fan, but when i was a child in the '90s in Italy I remember everyone playing football in the street called themselves Ronaldo, Baggio or Maldini. Good times

@@lolfc7861

Still mystery why didnt win even 1 ballon d or, he really deserved it😢

@@markussabogabriel5846

Bergkamp the best player you saw what he did to Maldini at mintue 3.oo, he stopped him with a foul, come on ...

@@magnetoflux

I want to see Maldini vs Messi now

@@MikesGottaPost

It's easy to forget about these dudes! Puyol is another one!

@@thebruh_22

i saw the tail end of maldini's career when he played as a Centre back, because i am that age. Wow, he was the first player that made me realise that football was about more than kicking the ball into goal.
A mountain of a defender. Even though he was 36 or something like that he made defending look easy and attackers look clueless.

that is why when i first watched Van Dijk at a southampton game against liverpool, I was thinking who is this guy. Once I saw him at liverpool, the first thing that came to mind was, this guy is the closest to maldini we have seen in the last decade. but of course VVD has had his moments especially after the injury from pickford

@@rmklarson5485

The only one !! When you consider that this GOAT has never won the gold ball, it's beyond words...

@@Ctrl_Alt_Dad_UK

I didn't know Sylvester Stallone played football.

@@ritwikroy1645

A simple thing :

when it comes to defender, the MALDINI is God. ❤❤

Rest? Rest are just players, & that's it.

Maldini, Leonardo ( Flamengo and Brazil player defense 2 and 2 lateral linears y adémas creo quás siendo mejor pouco acima di grand Maldini... ), Puyol and ...

@@ayasophiaasmoro5224

For him, sliding tackle was the last option in defending. But now? Its common for defenders.

@@jankopandza1072

As a Croat of 49 years of age i have never seen before or after anyone playing with such elegance as a defender as Paolo Maldini. It was poetry in motion .

He also grew in Milan with the best defender of that time, Franco Baresi.

@@kirikoo9981

In my lifetime I ever seen a player in this position play at Maldini level.

@@IzZzY007

Every generation thinks they had the best players! But, we know there is one eternal king in this sport and that is CR7.. Doubt Maldini or any defender in that matter can do much against a guy scoring with pretty much every shot at goal in his prime and that too from any distance :D :D :D

@@Badidea09

I think it was a crime not ever Maldini won a ballon d or, he was a top player.

@@danielherbera7522

I’m a diehard Inter Milan fan, but greatness transcends rivalries. Maldini was pure class — elegance, intelligence, and authority. The embodiment of what defending should be. That’s why he’s admired beyond clubs and colors — as a footballer, and as a man.

@@semreuser6442

@@greendayfan1901

You could argue he should be in the GOAT conversation with Ronaldo/Messi

could of been more wise in selecting the picture for this video ~ that doesn't represent his character at all...

What these all time greats zizou, r9, maldini has in common, they are all down to earth, very humble people

These are all fouls now …. Can’t 50/50 as the attacker screams and ref buys it

@@Bing-b8j

Maldini of course I watched him when I was young, and no forward can take him or pass him. Not even R9

@@oliverberlinzani8268

The way SHITbird , cardinale and furlani treated you is completely absurd... you are Ac Milan Paolo, and I'm sure every ACM fan would choose you over anyone else even blindfolded. Greatest defender ever, nothing more to say.

@@RealLadyVance

The best of all time no question. He played against maradona, r9, r7, zidane, henry, and many more. Look how the greats speak about him. There will never be another

The Role Model of Sergio Ramos

@@Tobenne

When football was balanced
Defenders were held in high esteem as strikers.
They the spotlight shifted to attackers and defence became an afterthought.
Thats why the quality of defenders have declined. Kids want to be strikers and only play defence when they are no good as strikers. Thats why defending in football is now calamitious.

@@neldawg593

No doubt about it, Jordan fumbled a huuuuge bag. Maldini, Beckham, both Ronaldos, Zizu, i mean the list goes on and on.
